Racing at Algarve

I felt it's time for a quick update to resuscitate this blog. Yes, I'm still here and plan on updating this regularly. My season is officially underway after wrapping up the 5-day Volta ao Algarve in southern Portugal this week. What a great race to start out with and get the legs going! We had beautiful weather, with no wind, and stayed at the same great hotel for the entire race. 3 of the stages were sprint finishes, which were a bit scary for not having raced in several months. Hans made out with a 4th place in the first stage and David and Danny were solid the whole week, finishing high up on GC. It was fantastic experiencing all of the sensations of racing that I've been without all winter. Screaming down a descent, taking swooping turns in the field, little accelerations every few seconds. The constant positioning battle is even a little fun, if just for a few races. Most of all, its great to be back with the team and staff. Everything to the bikes to the race food on the team bus is dialed.

I'm just about to hop on a plane back from Lisbon to spend the week at home. Home, sweet home. Almost.
